·In 1976, preliminary studies of Shiraz public transportation system for improvement of transportation system were conducted by a foreign consultant and using of railway network besides buses was recommended.
·In 1990, some university scientific staffs have started new studies which prolong for two years. In these studies, the necessity of railway network as development of public transportation system was re-confirmed.
·On 21 May 1996, Shiraz Urban Railway organization was established that its aim is to do studies, designs, constructions, transportation and utilizing, quality and quantity development of Shiraz urban and suburban railway system.
·In 1999, revision of previous studies in order to compile and complete of comprehensive studies of Shiraz public transportation with the purpose of investigation of needs to metro and presentation of appropriate routes to establish metro in Shiraz was begun and then superior alternative among them was selected and suggested.
·In 38th session of Supreme Council for Coordination of Iranian’s Cities Traffic (2000) comprehensive studies of Shiraz public transportation were approved and the construction of Shiraz metro began in 2001 because of traffic problems and high population density.
·In 56th session of Supreme Council for Coordination of Iranian’s Cities Traffic (2004) comprehensive studies of Shiraz transportation and urban traffic were accepted.
·In 84th session of Supreme Council for Coordination of Iranian’s Cities Traffic (5 September 2009) corridor of Line 3 with 10 km long and 5 stations, Lines 4, 5 and 6 and extension of Line 2 were confirmed.
·The tunnel drilling executive operations of Line 1 ended on November 2010.
·Shiraz Urban Railway organization held a tender to supply the cars for Line 1 on 31 July 2010. Winner of this tender was IRICO which that was introduced on November 2010.
